SUBJECT: BIS PTA Final Newsletter - Celebrating Wins!

BIS Newsletter: June 26th, 2025

Final Newsletter until August!

Congratulations Class of 2025!

We wish all our Trojans the best as they take with them all the lessons and fond memories they have from their time at BIS!  As they enter high school may they be prepared to face their challenges with confidence and enjoy the success of all their hard work. High school, here they come! We are so proud of our class of 2025!

A MESSAGE TO OUR TROJAN FAMILIES
CELEBRATING OUR TROJAN PRIDE FOR AN OUTSTANDING YEAR!

As the 2024-25 school year comes to a close, together we proudly reflect on our accomplishments vis-a-vis the goals we’ve set for the PTA this year, which is to build a better BIS by creating memorable experiences for our Trojans, supporting teachers and staff, and building community and school spirit.

  • We funded student field trips to the Exploratorium and Great America, as well as an on-site mobile museum

  • We supported the Book Fair and library with volunteers

  • We organized student and family events on and off campus such as a picnic, ice skating, movies, restaurant nights out, SF Giants baseball game, dances and socials and a multicultural celebration.

  • We celebrated teachers with staff breakfast, lunch, and Appreciation Week gifts

  • We raised BIS school spirit by partnering with Parks and Rec and introducing the Fall and Spring Trojan Pep Rallies for the very first time and continuous efforts with our Spirit Wear sales both in person and online

  • We increased collaboration with student leaders - shoutout to our awesome BIS float at the Burlingame Pet Parade and our student tour guides at the Incoming 6th Grade Tour

  • We involved the parent community with Pinstripes Parents Night Out, workshops on AI, social media, and puberty ed, and a documentary screening by parent/filmmaker Preeti Deb

  • We stepped up our partnerships with local businesses and some of our very own BIS parent owned business: Newfront Insurance, Caccia Plumbing, Squeeze Massage, Kiki Realty, Lilikoi Broadway, Leland Tea Company, Curious Cardinals, Maverick Jacks, Rise Pizzeria, Twelvemonth, Bonne Sante, Palette Tea Garden, Limon, Broadway Grill

  • We sent off the 8th graders with an event-filled Promotion Week chock-full with treats and activities …and more!

None of this could have been possible without your contributions of money and your time.  This year, we fundraised $118K – while this is only approximately $100/student, it’s DOUBLE what we raised last year!  Our PTA membership also hit a new high and we were blessed with parents who went over and beyond to offer their support in so many different ways.

Heartfelt thanks to every volunteer who generously gave their time, expertise, energy, and care to support our students, staff, and BIS community. Whether you organized events, chaperoned dances, shelved books, helped as a grade level parent team member, helped with lunch duty, or provided delicious treats, your contributions made a lasting impact. Together our parent volunteers gave at least 2500 hours of service (and we know the real number is even higher). Every moment you shared helped create a stronger, more connected BIS, and made this year more memorable and meaningful to make middle school a better experience for our kids. Thank you for helping make a difference at BIS. We are deeply grateful for your support and excited for all the great things we’ll continue to achieve together.

Huge appreciation to our partners at school headed by the incomparable Principal Greg Land, Vice Principal Zac Hansel and Vice Principal Dr. Jermaine WIlliams, the patience and assistance of our office administrators Tatiana Olivencia, Penny Crespo and Patti Haverty, as well as all our student leaders led and inspired by Ms. Kristi Birrell, Ms. Rosanna Bruzzi and let's not forget our hardworking custodial team. A tremendous Trojan Thank YOU to this past year's Executive Board who we recognize not just as parents who contributed to a banner year for our community but also an enjoyable group of people that we have had the pleasure to work with. We welcome those stepping up to help take Trojan Pride to a new level.

If you’ve gotten this far (or if you’ve skipped all of the above), watch this short 90-second reel for a fun visual of all that PTA has accomplished this record breaking school year. We look forward to an even better BIS next year! Thank you again for all your support.

Have a safe summer and see you in August!
